Contribute to the Salon 1150 Blog

Salon 1150 is a luxury hair and beauty salon in downtown Austin, Texas.
Our editorial blog reaches a growing audience of beauty enthusiasts, style-conscious professionals, and haircare seekers every month.

From time to time, we open our blog to outside contributors – experienced writers and beauty professionals whose expertise genuinely serves our readers. If that sounds like you, we encourage you to read through our standards below before reaching out.

Our Editorial Standards

Every article on the Salon 1150 blog goes through an editorial review process. We prioritize depth, accuracy, and reader value above all else.

We are selective by design. Our goal is to maintain a consistent voice and a high-quality reading experience — not to publish frequently for the sake of volume.

Who We Consider

We consider contributions from individuals who bring real knowledge and professional credibility to the topics they write about. This includes:

  • Licensed hair stylists, colorists, and cosmetologists
  • Nail technicians with hands-on technical experience
  • Beauty and lifestyle writers with a demonstrated body of work
  • Educators or professionals working within the beauty industry

We do not work with content mills, link-building agencies, or writers submitting on behalf of brands they are not genuinely affiliated with.

Topics That Fit Our Blog

Our readers come to us for practical, well-researched beauty guidance.
The following areas align with our existing editorial direction:

  • Hair color techniques and maintenance (balayage, highlights, toning, glossing)
  • Haircuts and styles suited to specific face shapes and hair textures
  • Nail art inspiration, technique guides, and at-home care
  • Honest, experience-backed product evaluations
  • Scalp health, hair growth, and long-term haircare habits
  • Chemical services including perms, relaxers, and treatments
  • Styling guides and blowout techniques
  • Beauty practices relevant to Austin and the surrounding region

Articles outside these areas are unlikely to be considered, regardless of quality.

Content Requirements

Submissions that reach our editorial team should meet the following minimum standards:

  • Between 1,000 and 1,500 words
  • Completely original not published, syndicated, or paraphrased from existing content
  • Written in clear, professional English with logical structure
  • Includes an engaging introduction, organized subheadings, and a practical conclusion
  • Grounded in real experience or verified information not surface-level generalities

We do not publish:

  • Content that reads as AI-generated without meaningful human authorship
  • Pieces whose primary purpose is to place external links rather than inform readers
  • Articles on unrelated topics including finance, gambling, supplements, or anything outside beauty and wellness
  • Content that has appeared elsewhere in any form

Formatting and Submission Format

Please submit your article as a Google Doc with sharing permissions enabled, or as a clean Word document.

Use the following structure:

  • H2 subheadings to organize major sections
  • H3 subheadings where relevant within sections
  • Short paragraphs of no more than three to four lines
  • Any images should be original photography or properly licensed with clear attribution included

Avoid over-formatting. Clean, readable drafts move through our review process faster.

What Contributors Can Expect

Contributors whose work is accepted for publication may receive:

  • A short author profile at the end of the published article
  • A social media mention when the article goes live
  • Publication on an established beauty blog with a growing readership and strong visibility across AI-powered search tools including Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, and Perplexity

We review all submitted content carefully before publication. Accepted articles may be lightly edited for clarity, tone, or formatting consistency. We will not alter the substance of your work without discussion.
